Wholesale Market Report
Week Ending April 26, 1996
HIGHLIGHTS
This report is for the week ending April 26, 1996.
Generally, the reported wholesale finfish prices were higher or unchanged except
cajun-lemon pepper catfish fillets and tilapia fillets were lower. Higher prices were
reported for whole hybrid striped bass, boned rainbow trout, boned red meat trout,
Atlantic salmon fillets, whole Atlantic salmon, boned coho salmon, whole Arctic char and
dressed white sturgeon. The reported volumes were generally unchanged. Volume increases
were reported for whole hybrid striped bass, tilapia fillets, boned rainbow trout, boned
coho salmon and whole Arctic char. Volume decreases were reported for boned red meat
trout, golden trout fillets, Atlantic salmon fillets, whole Atlantic salmon and dressed
white sturgeon. Dressed red meat trout and whole turbot reappeared in the report. Whole
white sturgeon appeared for the first time.
Shell oysters reported no change in price or volume. Hard
Clams reported no price change but increased 3500 Clams in volume. Mussels reported no
price change but increased 800 pounds in volume. Black tiger shrimp reported no price
change and a decrease of 60 pounds in volume.
Live market catfish deceased 21 cents per pound, but
increased 10,000 pounds in volume. No hybrid striped bass were reported. Tilapia reported
no price change and an increase in volume of 6,000 pounds. Big-head carp reported no price
change and a volume decrease of 10,000 pounds, Shell oysters increased 2 cents per oyster
with no change in volume. Manila clams increased 10 cents per pound with no change in
volume. Live market supplies in the Northeast were reported to be scarce.
