Aquaculture Wholesale Market Report
Week Ending April 25, 1997
HIGHLIGHTS
This report is for the week ending April 25, 1997. In
general, the reported prices were higher for catfish fillets and cajun-lemon pepper
catfish fillets were lower. Whole hybrid striped bass, tilapia fillets, rainbow trout
fillets, boned rainbow trout, dressed rainbow trout, Atlantic salmon fillets, whole
Atlantic salmon and whole Arctic char were higher in price.
The reported volumes were generally lower except catfish
fillets, cajun-lemon pepper catfish fillets, dressed rainbow trout and whole Atlantic
salmon were higher. No whole tilapia or whole white sturgeon were reported. Redmeat trout
fillets reappeared.
Shucked oysters in ½ pints were unchanged in price and
volume. Pints of shucked oysters were unchanged in price and 1,500 pints less in volume.
Gallons of shucked oysters were $0.82 per gallon lower in price and 34 gallons higher in
volume. Shell oysters were 3 cents per oyster less but increased 8,440 oysters in volume.
Clams were unchanged in price but 250 clams less in volume. Mussels were 5 cents per pound
less and 3,630 pounds less in volume. Black tiger shrimp were 2 cents less per pound and
285 pounds higher in volume. Alligator remained unchanged. Cooked crawfish tails were
absent. Live crawfish reappeared after a long absence.
