Aquaculture Wholesale Market Report

Week Ending March 7, 1997           

HIGHLIGHTS

This report is for the week ending March 7, 1997. In general, the reported finfish prices were higher. Higher prices were reported for whole hybrid striped bass, tilapia fillets, whole tilapia, rainbow trout fillets, boned rainbow trout, whole Atlantic salmon, whole Arctic char and whole steelhead trout. Lower prices were reported for dressed rainbow trout, Atlantic salmon fillets and boned coho salmon. Volumes were no comparable as another market was added on this report.

Shellfish prices were unchanged to lower. Lower prices were reported for mussels and black tiger shrimp. Again, volumes are not comparable.

The Northeast live market reported no change in finfish price or volume. Oysters and Manila clams reappeared following the Washington State flooding.
