Aquaculture Wholesale Market Report
Week Ending March 21, 1997
HIGHLIGHTS
This report is for the week ending March 21, 1997. In
general, the reported finfish prices were unchanged to slightly lower. Higher prices were
reported for catfish fillets, cajun-lemon pepper catfish fillets, rainbow trout fillets,
whole Atlantic salmon, and boned coho salmon. Lower prices were reported for whole hybrid
striped bass, tilapia fillets, boned rainbow trout, dressed rainbow trout whole Atlantic
salmon and whole Arctic char. The reported volumes were higher except dressed rainbow
trout was lower and catfish nuggets, dressed catfish, whole tilapia, and whole white
sturgeon were unchanged. No red meat trout was reported.
No price or volume change was reported for 1/2 pints or
pints of shucked oysters. Gallons of shucked oysters were $2.18 per gallon higher but 6
gallons lower in volume. Shell oyster increased in price by 1 cent and 860 oysters in
volume. Hard clams remained unchanged in price but increased 1,250 clams in volume.
Mussels decreased 2 cents per pound in price and 1,300 pounds in volume. Black tiger
shrimp increased 13 cents per pound in price and 853 pounds in volume. Cooked crawfish and
alligator tail meat remained unchanged in price and volume.
The Northeast live market reported no change in finfish
price or volume. Oysters and Manila clams reappeared following the Washington State
flooding.
