Aquaculture Wholesale Market Report
Week Ending January 24, 1997
HIGHLIGHTS
This report is for the week ending January 24, 1997. In
general, the reported finfish prices were unchanged to slightly lower. Cajun-lemon pepper
catfish fillets, dressed catfish, tilapia fillets, boned rainbow trout and boned coho
salmon were higher. Lower prices were reported for catfish fillets, whole hybrid striped
bass, rainbow trout fillets, red meat trout fillets, Atlantic salmon fillets and whole
Atlantic salmon. The reported volumes were generally higher. Lower volumes were reported
for catfish nuggets, whole hybrid striped bass, tilapia fillets, red meat trout fillets,
whole Atlantic salmon and boned coho salmon. Higher volumes were reported for catfish
fillets, cajun-lemon pepper catfish fillets, dressed catfish, rainbow trout fillets, boned
rainbow trout and Atlantic salmon fillets. No white sturgeon fillets were reported. Whole
white sturgeon appeared for the first time.
No price or volume changes were reported for ½ pints and
pints of shucked oysters. The price for gallons of shucked oysters were $2.63 per gallon
lower and 104 gallons less in volume. Shell oyster were 1 cent per gallon higher and
11,020 oysters more in volume. Hard clams were unchanged in price and 6,375 clams less in
volume. Mussels were 3 cents less per pound and 870 pounds higher. Black tiger shrimp were
86 cents per pound higher and 1,354 pounds more in volume. Cooked whole crawfish were
unchanged in volume and price. Alligator tail meat was unchanged in prices and 20 pounds
higher in volume.
