Aquaculture Wholesale Market Report

Week Ending November 15, 1996

HIGHLIGHTS

This report is for the week ending November 15, 1996. In general, the reported finfish prices were lower to unchanged. Cajun-lemon pepper catfish fillets, whole hybrid striped bass, rainbow trout fillets, boned rainbow trout fillets, Atlantic salmon fillets, whole Atlantic salmon and whole steelhead reported price decreases. The reported volumes were not comparable due to the loss of one market.

Shell oysters increased/cent per oyster with no change in volume. Hard clams had no reported price change but had a volume decrease of 22,200 clams. Mussels reported a 2 cents per pound price decrease and 100 pounds of volume decrease. Black tiger shrimp reported a $2.75 increase in price and a 1,656 pound increase in volume.

The Northeast Live Market reported a 15 cent per pound increase in tilapia prices. Catfish volumes were down 6,000 pounds and tilapia volumes were down 15,000 pounds. Big head carp reappeared. No price or volume change for oysters or manila clams.
