WESTERN REGIONAL AQUACULTURE CENTER (WRAC) CALL FOR PRE-PROPOSALS The Western Regional Aquaculture Center¹s (WRAC) Industry Advisory Council and Technical Committee recently reviewed the status of priority needs of the aquaculture industry throughout the western region and developed seven problem statements for potential projects to be developed for the 2005 fiscal funding cycle (program planning for new WRAC projects is begun 18 months prior to the beginning of the funding period). The Board of Directors has approved these seven statements for solicitation of pre-proposals. Please visit the WRAC website (http://www.fish.washington.edu/wrac) to view statements. WRAC policy requires that each project include participation by two or more states located within the western region (Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming). Research partnerships may be formed among all elements of federal, state, and local government, public institutions, and the private sector. WRAC puts a high priority on outreach of project results. Proponents are encouraged to be innovative and thorough. Outreach products for the projects, at a minimum should include:
