Volunteer Opportunities in Aquaculture with Winrock International

My name is DeAnn McGrew and I am a recruiter with Winrock International's volunteer programs.  Winrock is a private, non-profit organization that works around the world to increase economic opportunities, sustain natural resources, and protect the environment.  One of the many ways that Winrock works to acheive such goals is through our volunteer technical assistance programs. 

Winrock's volunteer programs, funded largely by the U.S. Agency for International Development, cover the required costs of a volunteers' assignment, including airfare, lodging, daily per diem for meals and incidentals, passports, visas, required immunizations, etc.  Volunteers simply donate their time and expertise on short, 2-6 week ,volunteer assignments in developing countries around the globe.  Winrock field staff in each country work with the volunteer as a liaison between them and the host (client) organization.  All travel arrangements are made by Winrock HQ located near Morrilton, Arkansas and all in-country logistics are arranged by Winrock field staff. 

We currently have several aquaculture volunteer positions in Nigeria including:

*Training on Small Scale Fingerlings Production

*Hormone Implant Fish Breeding Training (with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development)

*Zooplankton Production Capacity Building (National Institute for Freshwater Fisheries Research, NIFFR)

*Floating Pellets Production and Equipment Design (NIFFR)

*Capacity Building in Earthen Fishpond Design and Construction

*In-House Fish Fingerling and Floating Fish Pellet Production

*Pelletizer Design for Floating Fish Feed

*Environmentally Friendly Fishing Traps and Management Programs
