Initiative for Future Agriculture and Food Systems

The House Appropriations Committee inserted language into the supplemental
appropriations bill that effectively defunds IFAFS. This change must
survive the full House vote, the Senate (hopefully a difficult road), and
Conference to be adopted. Unfortunately, this leaves IFAFS in temporary
limbo.

Due to this House action, we have postponed the Delaware webcast scheduled
March 16 and have cancelled the March Workshops. We hope to be able to
replace the March workshops with a video conference/webcast/both. More news
to come.

Despite this setback, we are still planning our IFAFS panels and getting
ready for the proposals. There is a possibility that the deadline of May
8th may be extended to help alleviate problems caused by this delay. We
will let you know very soon if there is such a change.
