USDA-CSREES Fellow's Program

CSREES is pleased to offer the Fellows Program for 1999. This program offers faculty and staff affiliated with designated land-grant universities the opportunity to work and study with Federal staff in Washington, DC, during the summer. We expect to be able to support five Fellows this year. While any faculty and staff from the targeted institutions may apply (including those who applied in previous years, but were not selected), nominations are also encouraged. The deadline for applications and nominations is MARCH 30. A letter of concurrence and support from the applicant’s Director, Administrator, or President must accompany the application.

The program, first established in 1992, targeted Cooperative Extension staff in all 1890 Land- Grant Institutions, Tuskegee University, and the Land-Grant Institutions in American Samoa, the District of Columbia, Guam, Micronesia, North Marianas, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands. In 1996, eligibility was broadened to include all 1862, 1890, and 1994 Institutions with colleges of food and agricultural sciences.

Fellows spend up to 3 months here, working on short-term projects relevant to their interest and Agency needs. We provide each with at least one mentor for the duration of their stay. The program benefits both CSREES and the land-grant program because of the relationships developed, the projects undertaken, and the professional growth experienced by the Fellows.
