Comprehensive Shrimp Farming Program


There will be a comprehensive shrimp farming program at the World Aquaculture Society meeting in Seattle, Washington, USA (February 20-23, 1997). It will include:

* Four sessions (seven hours) on the technical aspects of shrimp farming (soils, effluents, sustainability, nutrition, maturation and broodstock)

* Shrimp presentations in the sessions on economics, genetics, biotechnology and sustainability

* A half-day session titled "Threats and Opportunities for Sustainable Worldwide Shrimp Farming"

* A full-day session of invited papers on shrimp viruses (organized by Don Lightner and Jim Brock)

* A half-day session titled "Shrimp, Salmon and People" (environmental problems, sustainability and coastal zone management)
