Tennessee Valley Authority

Aquaculture Programs and Services

The Tennessee Valley Authority has several programs which relate to aquaculture including:

TVA's Environmental Waste Management / Industrial Waste Reduction Team builds partnerships with public and private organizations to promote waste reduction as a means of improving the environment and enhancing business competitiveness. The team works with pollution-prevention programs across the country, providing technical assistance on waste reduction to industrial companies and to third-party providers of similar services. The team also conducts training classes inside and outside TVA and develops material for use in promoting waste reduction.

TVA's clean-water initiative protects and improves water quality and aquatic life in the Tennessee River system by monitoring water conditions and assigning teams of scientists and engineers to identify pollution problems in specific watersheds. These River Action Teams work with landowners, local communities and businesses, interest groups, and public officials--often across state boundaries--to find ways to protect water quality without limiting the river's use.
