Adobe Acrobat Reader
"a solution for cross-platform compatibility issues"
Many Web sites including AquaNIC take advantage of the
Portable Document Format (.pdf) by Adobe. Why do we use .pdf format over
htm? In some instances the only version of the document is a hard copy which was
scanned into pdf format. In other instances, the format of the document is
important and pdf files do a great job of maintaining the native look of the
document. You will need to install the
Adobe Acrobat Reader before you can view pdf
documents.
The Acrobat Reader download installation
files are large and require at least a few minutes with a fast connection. If
you are using a modem, then I suggest you do this late at night or very early in the
morning. The Reader programs are the most current versions and include
the search capabilities we are moving to on AquaNIC (full text searches of pdf
files). As a consequence the installation files are larger.
