This is a view of the growout
ponds. Click here for a better view. Because of the high
temperature and lack of wind, aeration is usually essential. |
|
The broodstock are kept, and the
juveniles are raised, in tanks converted from old pig styes. Click here
to see a row of tanks. |
  |
The broodstock are kept under cover, and the fry are grown
to fingerling stage before being stocked into the ponds. Click here
to see a tank of broodstock females averaging near 1 kg, or here
to see a tank of fingerlings. |
 |
The fish are harvested from the ponds and kept in tanks
before being taken to market. Click here to see the fish being
netted out for market. |
 |
The fish are transported in plastic bags with a small
amount of water and wet newspaper. They will remain alive many hours in these conditions.
