CD Screen Getting Started in Freshwater Aquaculture

Press Release

LaDon Swann
Illinois-Indiana Sea Grant College Program
Purdue University and the University of Illinois Cooperative Extension Services

Aquaculture is one of the fastest-growing segments of United States agriculture. The potential for aquaculture to supplement the capture fisheries is tremendous. This CD-ROM and workbook come about after several years of discussion among Cooperative Extension Service and Sea Grant outreach educators regarding the need for development of computer-based instruction on the fundamentals of aquaculture. The CD-ROM enclosed in this book will enable you to make decisions regarding the start-up of an aquaculture venture. This workbook will serve as a guide on how to use the CD-ROM and provide review questions, business planning forms, and example examination questions for instructors who teach aquaculture courses.

The program on the CD-ROM is the core of this package. It contains more than 512 photographs, 160 illustrations, 52 animations, 22 digital video clips, and 215 sound files. It is designed to be the basic tool, while the workbook provides support for the program.

Cost of the CD-Rom and workbook is $19.95  Please make checks payable to Purdue University Aquaculture. To place an order contact Purdue University Media Distribution Center and refer to CD-AS-2.
